Lower Edging
Cast on the number of sts for your yarn (listed above), then join in the round being very careful not to twist the cast-on edge. Place a marker to indicate the start of the round.
Round 1: Purl
Round 2: Knit
Repeat last 2 rounds 3 times, for 4 garter ridges in total.

Repeat Rounds 1 to 25 until cowl is desired depth, or until there is about half a ball of yarn remaining for the top edging. Omit Round 25 on final repeat.
Top Edging
Rounds 1&2: Knit
Round 3: Purl
Round 4: Knit
Repeat last 2 rounds twice, for 3 garter ridges in total.
Cast off purlwise, ensuring not to pull cast-off edge too tightly. Knit up one stitch in first cast-off stitch, cast this off and finish off yarn. This extra step joins the cast-off in the round and prevents a gap forming in the cast-off edge.
Finishing
Sew in ends as discreetly as possible as cowl is double-sided. Block cowl to flatten out the stitching, then wear with pride!
