Diagonal Garter Stitch Blanket

Beginner Knitting
Suitable for the beginner knitter, this reversible design is knitted in one piece, using two strands of 4ply held together – either use two balls or both ends of the one ball for your double strand. Choose to work in all one colour or use two contrasting colours – your choice! The blanket is knit in a diamond shape, starting with one stitch at the corner and increasing out until the required dimensions are reached, then decreasing back to one stitch at the far corner. This pattern can be used to make a square of any size and using any yarn, eg a facecloth using cotton yarn or blanket squares using left-over yarns.

One Colour:  8 (22, 34) balls Adorn Silky Cashmerino 4ply, Adorn Silky Merino 4ply, Bellissimo 4ply, Katia Merino Baby Aquarelle or Katia Cotton Cashmere 4ply
Two Colours:  Colour One – 4 (11, 17) balls Adorn Silky Cashmerino 4ply, Adorn Silky Merino 4ply, Bellissimo 4ply, Katia Merino Baby Aquarelle or Katia Cotton Cashmere 4ply and
Colour Two – 4 (11, 17) balls Adorn Silky Cashmerino 4ply, Adorn Silky Merino 4ply, Bellissimo 4ply, Katia Merino Baby Aquarelle or Katia Cotton Cashmere 4ply, or 2 (5, 8) balls/skeins Lang Mille Colori Socks and Lace Luxe or Fiori Sock

Needles – 5mm 60-100cm circular needles (in order to hold all the stitches)
Extras – tape measure and wool needle for sewing ends

Tension – 19sts and 36 rows to 10cm in Garter Stitch, using two strands held together. Tension isn’t critical for this blanket, however looser tension will likely require more yarn and tighter tension will result in a smaller blanket.
